The Service Trades College Australia offers this Domestic and Residential Licensing Course to meet the Queensland Building and Construction Commission (QBCC) requirements for the Domestic and Residential license endorsement.
Course Details
Why Choose This Course?
The Domestic & Residential course is intended to assess participants on the skills and knowledge necessary to install, maintain & test residential fire sprinkler systems in accordance with Australian Standards and regulatory requirements. The Statement of Attainment for individual units of competency are recognised by the QBCC as the successful completion of technical requirements for the Domestic & Residential endorsement of the licence Water Plumber – Fire Protection (Domestic & Residential).
Entry Requirements
It is a requirement of this course that you are a licensed Plumber or Sprinkler Fitter.
It is recommended that participants also have:
- An intermediate level of numeracy, literacy and computer skills
- Access to relevant Australian Standards, Codes, Legislation and other relevant documentation
For your convenience, the College provides relevant Standards while you are attending any Workshops. These Standards must remain on the College premises. Standards required for the Domestic & Residential Course are:
- Form 16
- AS 2118.4
- AS 2118.5
- NCC 2016 (Vol 1&2)

Delivery Mode and Timeframe
The qualification is delivered face to face during a 2 week workshop at our Salisbury Campus (South Brisbane).
Resources Required
Personal protective equipment:
- long sleeve cotton drill shirts and long cotton drill pants, or overalls (no nylon)
- protective footwear steel capped (AS/NZ 2210)
- clear safety glasses or clip-ons, if prescription glasses are normally worn (AS/NZ 1336 or 1337)
- ear protection – ear muffs or plugs (AS/NZ 1269 or 1270)
Students failing to meet these minimum standards of dress will not be permitted entry in to practical classes.

- CPCPCM2043A: Carry out WHS requirements
- CPCPFS3037A: Install domestic and residential life safety sprinkler systems
- CPCPFS4021A: Commission domestic and residential fire suppression sprinkler systems
- CPCPFS4024A: Design residential and domestic fire sprinkler systems
Apprentice Enrolment
Units Offered:
- CPCPFS4021A: Commission domestic and residential fire suppression sprinkler systems
- CPCPFS4024A: Design residential and domestic fire sprinkler systems
Assessment
The course requires the attendance of a 2 week workshop where assessment and practical tasks will be undertaken. Assessment will be completed.
The course content contains both calculations and formulas and failure to undertake the pre-reading and assignment tasks will jeopardise a successful outcome.
Cost
The full fee for the course is $2,075.
BERT Funding for Sprinkler Fitter apprentices nearing completion of a apprenticeship is available, conditions apply. Please contact the college if you would like further information regarding this course and funding.
If eligible for BERT funding, Apprentices will not be required to pay course fees.

This Program can be funded through the Construction Skills Queensland (CSQ) short courses initiative. Funding will only be available to participants who meet eligibility criteria and participate in training at our Salisbury Campus. Funding is available between 1 October 2016 unit 30 September 2017.
Course fee if eligible for CSQ funding is $1,445.

Outcomes
On successful completion of all assessment requirements for all units of competency, Participants will be issued with a Statement of Attainment. Successful Completion of this course will allow the Participant to apply to the QBCC for the Domestic and Residential endorsement on their license – Water Plumber – Fire Protection (Domestic and Residential).
